What is MockyMe?

MockyMe is a tiny, free web app that turns your photo into a kind, specific compliment or a playful roast written by an AI. There’s no account, no signup, and no fuss — drop in a picture, wait a few seconds, and read what the AI has to say about you. Most people use it as a small pick-me-up after a long week; some use it the other way and ask for the friendly British ribbing instead.

In Praise mode the AI writes a short, specific compliment that picks out something it actually sees in the photo — your jacket, your posture, the colour of the wall behind you. In Mock mode the same model writes a dry, British-style observation about the picture — the kind of friendly ribbing you’d expect from a witty mate at the pub, not an insult. Both modes are tuned to be specific rather than generic, because a specific line is the only kind that lands.

We’re deliberate about what MockyMe will not do. It won’t comment on anything you didn’t choose — your face, your body, your age. It won’t punch down. Why bother with this at all?

Most compliments in the wild are accidental. The internet is excellent at delivering criticism on demand — comment sections, group chats, the algorithmic feed of the day — and oddly bad at delivering the opposite. MockyMe is a small, ten-second attempt to flip that ratio. We wrote up the short version of the argument on why a small compliment matters if you’re curious about the research behind it.

And the photo? You don’t need a perfect one. You need a well-lit one with a bit of context — outfit, room, hands, whatever you’re holding. The photo tips page has a four-step pre-flight checklist that improves results dramatically without any equipment.
